Serious injuries can result from falls. There are many reasons why someone may fall. People can slip and fall on a walkway covered with ice or snow, or they can slip on a puddle of water spilled on the floor of a grocery store. People can trip and fall over an object, as for example a box left lying on the floor of a store. Or they can trip while walking on a sidewalk in disrepair. In most of these situations, the law holds the landowner or occupier of the property in question responsible for the maintenance of the property, such that people like you don’t get injured on their premises.
Please beware that if you fell on a sidewalk/road maintained by a town or municipality, it is imperative that you give the town/municipality notice of your fall right away!
Would you like to add something like; “You have only 10 days to bring a written notice to the local municipality about the fall if it was on a public sidewalk, road or premises.”
